Battle of Yonder St is all about life in rural England. It recalls small rural towns where there is little to do in the evenings but go to the pub. Recalling the phrase “7 in Devon”, the live version of the song now contains the lyrics “Drunk drivers driving drink drunk drivers”. It also tackles the age-old battle between the sexes “Johns in the pub, he’s out for the night, spending money left and right. Money’s tight, the wife’s at home, making dinner, he’d better phone”.
